Oregon residents voted to pass Measure 109, becoming the first state to legalize psilocybin from mushrooms in a therapeutic setting. With 83% of ballots reported, a very strong 55.7% of Oregon ballots voted yes to Measure 109. This is the beginning of a psychedelic renaissance. In the upcoming years, we expect to see a major movement to legalize psilocybin and other psychedelic medicines in many additional states including California and Colorado. We are also pleased by recent actions taken by the Canadian government to allow access to psilocybin for end-of-life therapy.
In addition to Oregon residents voting to legalize psilocybin from mushrooms, Washington DC residents voted to pass Initiative 81 to make the enforcement of laws against natural plant medicines among the lowest law enforcement priorities. An overwhelming 76.3% of Washington DC residents voted yes in support of Initiative 81.
